Braking Systems

The module includes a bench-top hydraulics trainer that provides a complete resource allowing the student to undertake a series of hands-on tasks that relate to hydraulic systems. It is complete with all the hydraulic devices, connectors, mechanical and electrical components needed to follow the topics.

This module consists of a hardware trainer that is based on the real automotive components found in a front/rear disc and drum braking system. This includes a pair of front wheel hubs with discs and callipers mounted on a rigid steel frame. The rear wheel hubs and drums are also mounted on the same frame, together with parking brake assembly and cables. A diagonally split hydraulic circuit, plus master cylinder complete with fluid reservoir and brake pedal are also fitted to the unit. A working brake light system is also provided.

This module provides a computer-linked simulator panel trainer that will enable students to learn the principles of anti-lock brake systems. The panel trainer provides a complete simulation of a 4-wheel ABS system that incorporates computer-inserted faults and an on-board diagnostics scan tool. Supplied complete with relevant manufacturer’s service data.

This module consists of a comprehensive series of computer aided instruction assignments that enable students to learn the advanced principles and applications of braking systems. The dynamic computer aided instruction provides interactive animations and high-resolution graphics that help the student understand the topics being delivered.

In addition to providing the underpinning knowledge on braking systems, the module also provides a series of practical activities. These are presented to the student as a series of workshop task sheets, which require access to a vehicle in a fully equipped automotive workshop.
